McDonald’s Board Opposes Cage-Free Eggs for U.S.

The New York Times recently carried an article about the McDonald's Board of Director's opposing a proposal to require 5 percent of eggs purchased by McDonalds restaurants be cage-free eggs. Why did the board oppose the idea? In their opinion, the proposal wasn't appropriately grounded in science or husbandry.
